Colour Pop Neat Freak Ultra Glossy Lip

Neat Freak

Colour Pop Neat Freak Ultra Glossy Lip ($6.00 for 0.11 oz.) has a translucent base with flecks of gold and pink sparkle that has a high-shine, mirror-like finish. It had a moderate amount of pearl and larger flecks of sparkle, so there was a noticeable, sparkling effect on the lips along with the glossy, shiny finish of the formula. (The clear nature of the base was intended.) The consistency was smooth, lightweight, and non-tacky with a slightly plusher thickness that helped minimize the product getting into my lip lines. It wore well for three hours and was hydrating while worn.

MAC Warm Aura Mineralize Skinfinish

Warm Aura

MAC Warm Aura Mineralize Skinfinish ($34.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a soft, light-medium pink with warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It was comprised of four shades within the compact (which would be doable to use two at a time but not quite one at a time without being careful to use only the small edge of a brush), which included: soft pink, pink-peach, dark pink, and light peach-pink.

It had good color payoff that was buildable to full coverage with two layers or easily sheered out (or applied with a lighter hand) for less intense coverage if preferred, which made it a more versatile powder that could work as a highlighter or highlighting blush, depending on one’s skin tone and whatever else it was paired with. The consistency felt smooth to the touch and blended out with little effort on my skin. It wore well for eight hours before I noticed any fading.

Formula Overview

$34.00/0.35 oz. – $97.14 Per Ounce

The description has changed over the years–the most current description (as of 4/21/2018) is that it is a “slow-baked, velvety soft, domed face powder with a radiant finish” that can be used to highlight “the high points of the face” or blended “all over for a sheer luminous polish to the skin.” The sheerness seems to be more in referenced to the finish than the coverage, as the usage now states to use the product damp for an even stronger sheen.

In general, the Mineralize Skinfinish formula tends to be more metallic to glittery with medium to opaque coverage–it really depends on the shade. The texture of the formula has been refined over the years with current editions being fairly smooth, blendable, and easy to use. The wear has varied from six to eight hours on me with newer shades and variations lasting closer to eight hours on average.

Colour Pop Boomin’ Luster Dust Loose Highlighter

Boomin’

Colour Pop Boomin’ Luster Dust Loose Highlighter ($7.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a light-medium gold with warm, yellow undertones and a soft, metallic sheen. It wasn’t quite as metallic as a lot of the Luster Dusts are and was more pearl to metallic–only getting metallic with multiple layers or applied with a dampened brush. The texture was soft, silky, and finely-milled, which made for a very easy-to-pick-up loose product. The pigmentation really depended on the tool, as it was easily opaque with a denser brush and just as easily applied as a sheer sheen using a fan brush. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading slightly.

Formula Overview

$7.00/0.11 oz. – $63.64 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to be a “finely-milled, soft powder” that “packs a blinding punch” where “a little goes a long way.” These can be incredibly shiny and metallic on the skin, and the coverage seemed to be all in the application. They actually seemed to be more pigmented when I applied them to my cheekbones using a tapered highlighter than when I used smaller brushes (for eyes) on my forearm. The powders were finely-milled with some base color and a lot of shimmer/pearl. I found the best way to apply these was to pick up product onto a brush and then swirl my brush on the interior of the cap, which helped to disperse the powder more evenly through my brush. This resulted in more even application to my cheeks that required less buffing and blending than if I skipped the swirling step. They lasted around eight hours on me.

Maybelline The City Mini Eyeshadow Palette Chill Brunch Neutrals Review

rati beauty videos

By Khusboo Vashi

Hello IMBBians,

So I am back with another review and it’s on my most loved thing and that is an eyeshadow palette. Eyeshadows and nail paints make me the happiest as far as makeup is concerned. I just cannot resist myself whenever I see a new eyeshadow in the market. Maybelline came up with this super cool range and I picked up this variant. Let’s read more about Maybelline The City Mini Eyeshadow Palette Chill Brunch Neutrals.

Maybelline The City Mini Eyeshadow Palette Chill Brunch Neutrals Review

Price: $9.99
Product Description:
The City Mini Palette features six dramatic shades that are perfect for creating custom eye makeup looks. From Graffiti Pop and Concrete Runway to Rooftop Bronzes and Chill Brunch Neutrals, make a lasting impression with Maybelline’s six-shade mini eyeshadow palette.

Maybelline The City Mini Eyeshadow Palette Chill Brunch Neutrals Back

My Experience with Maybelline The City Mini Eyeshadow Palette Chill Brunch Neutrals:

So, first of all, starting with the packaging. The palette is covered in a cardboard case, which is super cute; the shades of the palette are visible from the centre. The palette is a black case and you can see the shades through the transparent area. At the back, the ingredient list is mentioned and also how to create the eye look using this palette is shown. The palette consists of six different shades with different finishes, like matte, satin and glittery.

Maybelline The City Mini Eyeshadow Palette Chill Brunch Neutrals Packaging

Shade 1: This is an off-white shade and the only transition shade having a matte finish in this palette. The texture is very creamy. But it has powdery consistency and falls out during application. It will not show up on the lid easily.
Shade 2: This is a metallic dark bronze kind of shade with gold glitter, having great fall out. This shade has superb pigmentation though.
Shade 3: This is kind of rosy taupe shade having a satin finish. This shade has a little fallout issue. The pigmentation is not that great. You’ll need to work to get the colour payoff.
Shade 4: This is a kind of ashy grey colour having silver glitter in it and a little fallout. This too has great pigmentation.
Shade 5: This one is a taupe gold shade having golden glitter in it and the pigmentation is great.
Shade 6: This is a brown shade having a satin finish. This shade has the least fallout.

Maybelline The City Mini Eyeshadow Palette Chill Brunch Neutrals Top

Overall, the packaging is very cute as it’s very tiny and does not require much space – just slip it into your bag. I love the texture of the eyeshadows. It’s very creamy and it’s better than the other Maybelline Eyeshadow Palettes. The pigmentation is superb but shades 1 and 3 need to be built up for the full color payoff.

Maybelline The City Mini Eyeshadow Palette Chill Brunch Neutrals Swatch

Coming to the staying power, it lasts for 7-8 hours, which I’m quite impressed with. Now the two things I am disappointed with are a) almost every shade falls out during application and b) the price of the palette. You only get 6.1 g of product and six shadows for INR 750. I think it’s a bit high for a brand like Maybelline.

Pros of Maybelline The City Mini Eyeshadow Palette Chill Brunch Neutrals:

Travel-friendly.
Most shades are well pigmented.
Staying power.
Texture.
Compact packaging.

Cons of Maybelline The City Mini Eyeshadow Palette Chill Brunch Neutrals:

Shadows fall out a lot.
Pricey

IMBB Rating: 3.9/5
Would I Repurchase/Recommend Maybelline The City Mini Eyeshadow Palette Chill Brunch Neutrals?
I do like the concept, shade selection and texture of this palette but I think there are better options in the market. So, I won’t repurchase this one. Since pigmentation is good I might try another variant, though. If you too love eyeshadows, you may give this one a shot.

Guerlain #28, 71, 67 Rouge G de Guerlain Lip Colors (2018) Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Guerlain #28 Rouge G de Guerlain Lip Color (2018) ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, medium red with warm, orange undertones and a subtle, pearl sheen. It had good color payoff in a single layer, though I could see my lip freckle peeking through. The texture was lightweight, thin without being clingy or uncomfortable, and had enough slip to glide across my lips without tugging. The color went on evenly and stayed on well for five and a half hours, while the formula felt hydrating.

Formula Overview

$32.00/0.12 oz. – $266.67 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to have “intense colour” with a hydrating base that includes things like jojoba and mango butter as well as hyaluronic acid (and gugul resin) to “help to smooth and plum up lips.” I would describe the formula as somewhere between semi-opaque and opaque, often buildable, with a luminous sheen that seems like there’s very, very fine pearl but less distinctive shimmer (except for the shades that are actually shimmery). I find that the magic of the formula is in its finish–it’s shiny, luminous, and absolutely smoothing on the lips without compromising wear (four to six hours, sometimes longer). The formula is very hydrating and comfortable to wear. They have a sweet, floral scent but no discernible taste to me. The updated shade range seems to have a stronger emphasis on mid-tones in coral and red and less beiges than before.

The Rouge G de Guerlain Lip Colors have been updated but mostly with respect to packaging and the shade range, as the formula itself has not been changed (per the brand). The lipsticks are now available as refills for $32.00 each, and then one can pick from an assortment of cases ($15.00 each), though each refill comes with a small, plastic cap that keeps the refill from drying out while waiting to be sold. The refill cap seems like it would be sufficient to keep the lipstick long-term, but I can’t say from experience. I have not tested each shade for wear, but the shades I have tested, initial swatches and applications, and the like make the formula seem the same as before.

The old Rouge G cases do not fit on the new refills as the case doesn’t stay on without a magnet (it just slides right off). I don’t yet have any of the cases as they weren’t available to me to purchase yet, but I plan to pick one or two up merely to see how they feel (probably the Original, to see if there was any weight change, and then something new).

A big upside to the refillable packaging is that they’re actually significantly less expensive buying them piecemeal than buying it all-in-one. The original Rouge Gs were last sold at $58.00 for 0.12 oz., and now, the all-in-one price is effectively $47.00 for 0.12 oz. — that’s a nearly a 19% reduction in price.

Guerlain #71 Rouge G de Guerlain Lip Color (2018) ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. The lipstick had a smooth, lightly creamy texture that glided easily across my lips and yielded even, mostly opaque color payoff in a single stroke. This shade wore well for five hours, stained my lips slightly, and was moisturizing over time.

Tarte Pout Prep Lip Exfoliant Review

rati beauty videos

By Pooja Khanna

Hi all,

Today, I am going to review a product from Tarte which is called the “Pout Prep Lip Exfoliant.
I came across this product recently and thought of giving it a try as I have very dry lips that flake because of which lipsticks tend to look ugly on my lips.

Tarte Pout Prep Lip Exfoliant

Product Description:
A minty scrub and treatment balm that’s infused with hydrating maracuja, shea butter, and exfoliating sugar to gently buff away flakes and hydrate lips.

It smooths and preps lips for the perfect pre-lipstick application with suspended raw sugar granules that microexfoliate and buff away dead skin so your lips so you can simply buff, rinse, and repeat. Nourishing maracuja and shea butter sink deeply into your silky-smooth lips to help hydrate, firm, and protect lips from future drying, cracking, or chapping.
Price:
$16 for 0.6oz/17 gm.

Ingredients:
Sucrose, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Cera Alba/Beeswax/Cire D’abeille, Flavor, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Cera Carnauba/Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax/Cire De Carnauba, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Caprylyl Glycol, Passiflora Edulis Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate.

My Experience with Tarte Pout Prep Lip Exfoliant:

Packaging: It comes in a small 0.6 oz translucent jar with a hot pink lid that has lip kiss marks on the top which makes it look super cute. There is also an intermediate pull-up lid on top of the jar before the main lid which would not let the product spill out if it tends to melt in the heat. The jar is small enough and you can easily carry in a travel pouch if needed.

Tarte Pout Prep Lip Exfoliant tub

Fragrance and Texture: It has a fresh minty smell, which is very refreshing. Sometimes the mint smell can be strong; however, this product just has the right kind or amount of minty ness to it which makes it refreshing but not too overpowering. The base texture of the product is like that of a lip balm that feels smooth and hydrating. It has fine sugar granules in it which are supposed to help exfoliate and remove the dead skin from the lips. However, Tarte has ensured that the sugar granules aren’t so large that it becomes abrasive to the sensitive lip skin.

Usage/Results: It is recommended to use your fingers to apply this product and then buff away the product in circular motions till the dead skin is removed. Then, gently wipe off the product with a damp cloth.

I did the same and used my fingers to gently buff it on my lips. It felt really smooth and the granules are of the appropriate size and felt as if they were doing something, but not rough as to harm the lips in any way. I left the product on for a couple of minutes so that the lips would absorb all the moisture from the butters and the oils in it. I gently wiped off the excess with a baby wipe after it. My lips felt very smooth and soft after using this exfoliant. I did apply a lip balm after this and went to bed. The next morning, I woke up with the most soft and kissable lips that I have ever had in a while.

The next time around, I used it before I was going to get ready. I followed the above process and then put a liquid lipstick on it. We all know that liquid lipsticks can get dry; however, I had no issues at all for almost 6-7 hours. My lipstick stayed put and my lips felt hydrated and soft. It definitely made a drastic difference in the way my lipstick looked and felt the entire day.
I definitely plan on including this as a part of my skin care aka lip care routine.

Pros of Tarte Pout Prep Lip Exfoliant:

  • Beautiful, refreshing, mint fragrance.
  • Goes on smooth.
  • Makes your lips soft and smooth.
  • The lipsticks go very smooth on it and does not dry out the lips.
  • Definitely does all that it says.

Cons of Tarte Pout Prep Lip Exfoliant:

  • It’s $16 for 0.6oz/17 gm which is on the pricier side.
  • Need to use your finger to dip in jar and take the product out which can infect the product so make sure your hands are clean before sticking fingers in it.

IMBB Rating:
5/5

Spring Sparkle With Gleaming, Glowing Skin for a Trip to Old Navy

mac show gold spring sparkle tutorial
There isn’t a rule that says you can’t shimmer and go to Old Navy in the middle of the week, and MAC Show Gold is perfect for that.

“Because Old Navy” is as good a reason as any to sport sparkly skin on a typical spring Tuesday. Or Wednesday. 🌻

I mean, I really just want to get out of my pajamas before noon and feel cute again on the regular, truth be told. If there’s a maximum number of days a person should spend in sleepwear per year, I’ve definitely exceeded that limit!

Like the subtle spring sparkle look I did for last weekend’s luncheon, this one also took about 10 minutes. The spring sparkle comes courtesy of glossy coral lips, khaki lids and lash lines with subtle shimmer, and glowing skin.

All of the primary face products I used — the tint, powder, bronzer, highlighter and even the setting spray — have subtle shimmer and create a dewy, glowing look that’s perfect for a sunny spring day.

I hadn’t been to Old Navy in a while, and guuurl, sometimes when I go in there the store looks like the ninth wrinkled polyester circle of hell, but yesterday, not so much.

Ugh, SO MUCH CUTENESS! They’ve got this retro tropical vibe happening, and it speaks to my soul. Hibiscus, parrots, palm trees left and right. Good thing I had Connor with me and she was getting antsy for lunch because I would’ve been tempted to stay a lot longer and try everything on.

  6. Dab the shimmery peachy pink highlighter onto the inner part of lid (optional)
  7. Line water lines with the black eyeliner, then line lash lines with the shimmery khaki eye pencil
  8. Sweep bronzer into your crease and along the lower lash lines
  9. Even out skin by applying and blending the face tint
  10. Disguise dark circles and/or any areas where you want more coverage with concealer
  11. Dust a sheer layer of face powder to set
  12. Blend bronzer on your cheekbones, around the edge of your face, and across the bridge of your nose

8 Medicated Creams that Heal your Acne Scars

rati beauty videos

Hi everyone,

Don’t we all hate the acne scars more than the acnes? Even when the acnes are gone, the scars refuse to leave our face. Although it is tough to get rid of the scar completely without undergoing any laser or chemical peeling treatments, doctors do recommend some creams that helps to fade the scars to some extent. In this post, I will tell about various creams that doctors recommend for fading the scars.

8 Medicated Creams that Heal your Acne Scars

1. Clindapene

If you want to get rid of the existing acnes along with old scars, then this gel can really be useful. This gel contains clindamycin along with adapalene. Adapalene unclogs the pores and thus assist the antibacterial
clindamycin to clear the acnes faster.

2. Adaferin

8 Medicated Creams that Heal your Acne Scars Adaferin

The main component of this gel is a chemical named Adapalene, which is a synthetic retinoid. It is often more preferred than tretinoin creams as they have lesser side effect, but is just as effective as the tretinoin.

3. Deriva MS

Just like adaferin, this gel also contains adapalene as the main component. However, it has the adapalene in micronized form which increases the effectivity. It has a soothing gel texture that feels very lightweight when applied.

4. Deriva-CMS

This again is the combination of both clindamycin and adapalene. This one also has the adapalene in micronized form which increases the efficiency to a large extend.

5. Retino-A

This is the best tretinoin cream available in India and is great to heal the acne scars and even the pits. Tretinoin is basically an acidic form of Vitamin A that boosts the collagen formation in your skin. When applied, it peels the dead layers, thus smoothening the skin. It also boosts collagen production which helps the new layers to form. Regular usage makes the skin plump, the acne pits get filled up permanently and the scars fade away.

6. Yugard Cream

8 Medicated Creams that Heal your Acne Scars Yugard

If you are looking for something that is milder than the tretinoin cream, you can definitely opt for this retinol cream. It is a 0.15% retinol cream in a cream base that exfoliates the dead layers to remove the stubborn dark spots. It prevents the breakdown of collagen and allows new layers of cells to form. Along with fading scars, this also helps to make the skin toned and youthful.

7. Glyco-6

Glycolic acid peeling is a common treatment to fade scars and lighten the skin. You can do that at home using this product containing 6% glycolic acid. It peels away the dark spots and dead cells to reveal flawless skin. It reduces discolorations and makes the acne pits look smoother.

8. Olliza Gel

Glyco-6 comes in a cream base that may not suit very oily skin. For such people, this cream comes to the rescue. It is a 12% glycolic acid containing product, but it comes in a gel base. This not only works on acne scars but also helps to remove wrinkles and heal sun damaged skin.

These are the most common medicines that the dermatologists prescribe for your acne scars. There are other variants also with same chemical compositions. But, these are the safest. However, it is always advisable to consult your doctors before using these. The medicines can make your skin sensitive and lead to more breakouts. So, it is best to know about the dose and application process from experts. The chemicals in these medicines make your skin sensitive to light. So, make sure to use them in the night and also use sunscreens regularly. It is better to avoid harsh scrubs, chemical peels and other treatment cream along with these. Also, it is important to be patient to see these work. Let us know which one is working on your skin.
